Yankees Acquire Andrew Heaney From Angels

The New York Yankees have been one of the busiest and surprise teams at the MLB trade deadline. They have added many stars including Anthony Rizzo yesterday from the Chicago Cubs and the day prior they acquired Joey Gallo and Joely Rodriguez from the Texas Rangers. In both those trades, the Yankees never gave up a top-five prospect.

They also traded away two relievers in Luis Cessa and Justin Wilson both to the Cincinnati Reds and traded for Clay Holmes from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Now they had one piece left on their wish list and have completed that as the trade deadline closed in.

Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Yankees are acquiring Angels pitcher Andrew Heaney.

Right-handed pitchers Janson Junk and Elvis Peguero are the return to the Angels for Heaney. Junk is among the Yankees’ top 30 prospects.

Heaney, 30, has put up a 5.27 ERA in 94 innings with 113 strikeouts and a 1.30 WHIP. The Yankees still don’t have the most stable of rotations but will be getting reinforcements in Luis Severino, Corey Kluber, and prospect Clarke Schmidt before September.
