Two more officers involved in the January 6 riots have committed suicide. Now, there have been a total of four Capitol Police suicides this year, all four officers were on the response team during the Capitol riot.

The U.S. Capitol Police has confirmed that Officer Kyle DeFreytag took his life on July 10, he was shortly followed by Officer Gunther Hashida, who was found dead in his apartment July 29. The news comes as the January 6 committee has begun its hearings last week.

In response, Officer Harry Dunn spoke to his fellow officers, saying, “I want to take this moment and speak to my fellow officers about the emotions they are continuing to experience from the events of January 6. There is absolutely nothing wrong with seeking professional counseling. What we all went through that day was traumatic, and if you are hurting, please take advantage of the counseling services that are available to us.”

The U.S. Capitol Twitter currently has pinned a tweet giving support for the officers who are testifying in front of the January 6 committee.
