Brazilian Team oNe Esports Wins Six Mexico Major 2021

With an impressive win over Rainbow Six Siege esports’ European giants Team Empire, Team oNe Esports has prevailed as the Six Mexico Major 2021 champion. The Brazilians are going home with $200 thousand in prize money and 375 qualification points for the Six Invitational 2022.

Having sold its experienced roster to MIBR, Team oNe had just six months to build a team for the Mexico tournament. Ideally, they were the underdogs and almost failed to reach the playoffs, much less the finals. They had to force a draw and a repeat match with the CYCLOPS on the last day of the group stage to enter the playoffs. But in the playoffs, taking down DarkZero Esports 2-0 and even delivering a whitewash (7-0) performance against their more experienced regional counterparts, Team Liquid.

Six Mexico Major Grand Finals

While Team oNe was shaky in the group stages, their grand final clash with Team Empire was a mix of elite performance and utter dominance. The Brazilian’s first round with the Six Major defending champions was a horrible loss. The young squad suffered a 2-7 loss on Clubhouse. They then responded by trouncing the Russian side 7-2 on Chalet, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie.

Team oNe’s hero, Karl “Alem4o” Zarth, executed a triple kill in overtime on Coastline, enabling his team to counter the aggressive Empire side. Tensely, they won the Coastline on a slim 8-6 victory. They almost sealed their victory on Consulate, where they dominated Team Liquid, only for the Russians to tie it back at 2-2.

On the final map, Villa, Team oNe came off stronger with Caio “Neskin” Szazi finding multiple triple kills. The Brazilian Rainbow Six Siege esports team convincingly beat Team Empire 7-1, breaking the tie to 3-2 and taking home the Six Mexico Major title for the first time.

Team oNe Roster

After the victory, head coach Arthur “TchubZ” Martins said, “I remember, I told you before SI that I had built this perfect team. Yeah, and now it’s (been) proven, five months later.” Before joining Team oNe, none of the players saw fame. TchubZ chose to scout and recruit the team based on their profiles.

Previously lesser-known players like Alem4o and Neskin shot to stardom after their performances in the Six Mexico Major 2021 finals. Even better, Team oNe’s Juliano “Levy” Andrade dos Santos Benos won the event’s MVP award. From being just one round away from elimination in the group stage to taking the Six Major crown home, this championship has been an incredible journey for TchubZ and the entire Brazilian team.

It’s an important win for Team oNe as it guarantees a spot in the Six Invitational 2022, alongside Team Liquid. The next Six Major will be played in November. Specific dates, venues, and schedules are yet to be released.
