Gene Simmons is the latest member of legendary rock band KISS to test positive for COVID-19.
The iconic band — consisting of Paul Stanley, Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss — made the announcement on their website on Monday, August 31, and revealed the recent diagnosis will force them to cancel some upcoming tour dates.
“KISS will postpone their next four tour dates. While Paul Stanley recently tweeted that he has recovered from COVID, Gene Simmons has now tested positive and is experiencing mild symptoms,” the statement began.

“The band and crew will remain at home and isolate for the next 10 days and doctors have indicated the tour should be able to resume on September 9th at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA,” the post continued. “All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates once announced. More information will be emailed to ticketholders directly.”
Simmons’ positive test comes days after singer Stanley revealed he had contracted the virus, forcing the band to postpone shows in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia.

A statement released via Twitter stated the entire “band and crew” were “fully vaccinated,” and that everyone involved in the tour has “operated in a bubble independently to safeguard everyone as much as possible at each shows and in between shows.”
“The tour also has a COVID safety protocol officer on staff full-time that is ensuring everyone is closely following all CDC guidelines,” the statement concluded.
Stanley, 69, updated his fans on Monday, August 30, and let them know that although he only had “mild” symptoms, it wreaked havoc on his body. “It kicked my ass,” he tweeted alongside a selfie.
Simmons, 72, has repeatedly urged his followers on social media to get the vaccine as the spread of COVID-19 rages on.
KISS had just resumed its “End of the Road” tour on August 18, 2021 after a 17-month pause due to the pandemic.
