Ronnie Ortiz-Magrowon’t be fighting his battles alone — his fiancée Saffire Matoshas his back through thick and thin.
““Ronnie is very open about dealing with his mental health and that is something very personal to him,” a source tells Us Weekly. “Saffire has been his biggest support system. She’s so patient, loving and really understands this has been hard for him, so she’s helping in any way she can and giving him a lot of emotional support.”
The Jersey Shore star, 35, was arrested back in April after an alleged domestic violence dispute, and was later released on $100,000 bond.
Matos was openly supportive of Ortiz-Magro at the time, and took to her Instagram story to defend her man amid the drama.
“Ronnie and I are fine,” she wrote. “There is a lot of misleading information floating around out here. With anybody who reached out with concern I appreciate it with all my heart, but everything that’s being portrayed out there are not facts. I don’t think it’s fair that people are using false accusations to gain attention."
In May, Ortiz-Magro’s lawyers, Scott E. Leemon and Leonard Levine revealed that their client would be “seeking medical treatment for psychological issues that he has ignored for a long time.”
Hours later, the MTV personality announced he would be stepping away from Jersey Shore: Family Vacation to focus on his mental health and being a better father for his three-year-old daughter, Ariana, who he shares with ex-girlfriend Jen Harley.
“After talking to the team at MTV, we have mutually agreed that I will step away from the show while I seek medical treatment for mental health issues that I’ve ignored for too long,” he shared on Instagram at the time. “My goal now is facing my struggles head on.”
Ortiz-Magros showed his appreciation for Matos in June by popping the question and sharing the sweet photos on Instagram.
“I love you 💕 Thank you for sticking by my side through thick and thin!” he wrote. “Til death do us part! #SheSaidYes.”
As OK! previously reported, on Thursday, August 26, the Famously Single alum revealed to TMZthat he would be returning to Jersey Shore after a brief hiatus.
“I feel great, man. Four months sober, I quit drinking. Got engaged, full-time father, you know, living a good life,” he told the outlet, before adding of the MTV series, "I’ll be back and, you know, all the fans love me and I love them too so I’m gonna give them what they want and I’ll see them soon.”
The US Weekly source explained that Matos has been an integral part of Ortiz-Magro’s progress: “They’ve overcome a lot together. Ronnie is a good person. He’s been around people who may have not had the best intentions with him, so [Saffire] is still learning how to get past all the obstacles when it comes to things he’s going through.”
