Britney Spears Won’t Face Misdemeanor Battery Charges Over Incident With Housekeeper

Britney Spears was accused of slapping a phone out of a housekeeper’s hand on Aug 16. The housekeeper filed charges against Spears for alleged misdemeanor battery. Since then, the singer has been under investigation for the allegations. 

Prosecutors concluded that the charges were not substantial and there was insufficient evidence that any crime occurring. Misdemeanor Unit Supervisor Blake Heller stated that charges were cleared due to “lack of injury to the housekeeper or significant damage to the phone.”

Spears’ lawyer Mathew Rosengart stated “this was nothing more than sensationalized-tabloid fodder — an overblown ‘he said, she said’ regarding a cell phone. If this involved Jane Doe rather than Britney Spears it would not have been pursued or covered at all.”
