Pop Princess Miley Cyrus is getting real about her feelings on love and how the ongoing coronavirus pandemic made her realize her true passion.
While performing at BottleRock music festival in Napa Valley, Calif. over the weekend, the 28-year-old put a spin on Janis Joplin’s haunting track “Maybe.”
Before launching into the song, she talked to the audience about what the tune meant to her and how the pandemic enabled her to embrace change.
“This song, to me, related to the changes that I’ve been experiencing in my life, and the things that I’ve lost,” she said on Saturday, September 4.
“I hadn’t performed it yet before, but I thought tonight … it makes sense. I think all of us in the last year and a half have been experiencing changes,” she told the adoring crowd, before speaking on her reality regarding her love life and the isolation of the pandemic.
“I had a theory I would die if I didn't have a partner,” the “Wrecking Ball” songstress said, according to DailyMail. “If I didn't have someone to kiss me every single night… But this was taken from me during COVID, so then I found a new purpose and that's music.” Cyrus also noted her career kept her “strong” during such a troubling time for so many.
She continued: “I’m just so fortunate to be a musician.”
Cyrus and hunky actor Liam Hemsworth met on the set of their 2010 film The Last Song and began dating shortly after. The duo tied the knot in December 2018, and split a mere seven months later. Their divorce was finalized in January 2020.
Following her breakup from The Hunger Games alum, Cyrus dated singer Cody Simpson and reality TV star Kaitlynn Carter.
The Hannah Montana star's reclaimed passion for music comes after a source exclusively spilled to OK! that, following the lackluster sales of her last album Plastic Hearts, she is contemplating a Las Vegas residency to revive her career.
“People seem to have tired of Miley and moved on to newer acts like Olivia Rodrigo,” an industry insider dished to OK!. “Her act seems stale and she seems confused on how to fix it.”
