Picture this, if you will. It’s next year. You’re driving the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country. You’re towing a C8 Corvette to SCCA Solo Nationals happening right now in Lincoln, Nebraska. You’re towing, and you don’t want to touch the wheel and steer the truck and trailer anymore. That’s entirely possible in the new Silverado High Country, which exclusively offers GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country Updates
With Ford and Ram bringing their A-game in their top-of-the-line trucks, it was imperative that Chevrolet was able to elevate the 2022 Silverado High Country interior from what it was. Which isn’t to say it was bad, but relative to the competition, it wasn’t as impressive.
For the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country, designers took the look and feel of the interior to new heights, adding more high-budget materials, unique colors, and seat patterns. Customers will immediately notice the open-pore wood trim on the console, upper glove box and doors, while the standard leather seats now come with an exclusive custom perforation and stitching pattern. The Bose speaker grilles are now stainless steel on both the LTZ and the High Country, and two interior color choices are now available: Jet Black or Nightshift Blue.

Like the Silverado ZR2, the 2022 Silverado High Country features a redesigned, sweeping horizontal instrument panel that makes the cabin feel more spacious, along with a new, more functional center console featuring an electronic shifter instead of a column-mounted unit. The interior centerpiece is a 13.4-inch-diagonally measured color touchscreen, and new 12.3-inch-diagonally measured configurable digital instrument cluster standard.
The new Silverado High Country also features access to Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play right on the infotainment screen. This new software works with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability.

The killer app for the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country is the industry-first introduction of semi-autonomous driving technology of Super Cruise on a pickup truck. The hands-free driving technology is compatible on over 200,000 miles (320,000 km) of roads in the United States and Canada.
Unlike lower budget systems in the industry that just use cameras and crash, Super Cruise employs a suite of hardware, including radar, a Driver Attention System and LiDAR map data. While we’re familiar with the technology, as seen on the Cadillac Escalade and CT6 before it, the Super Cruise system on the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country can be used while towing, with specific calibrations designed to account for the additional drag and increased braking distance that comes with performing the activity.
Lane Change on Demand and Automatic Lane Change are also available with Super Cruise (but you’ll have to change lanes yourself with the trailer, which is the biggest first world problem we’ve heard of since we ran out of Domaine Romanée Conti back at the office).
Super Cruise is only available on the High Country Silverado 1500 for the 2022 model year, but is expected to trickle down the lineup as the years go on. It’s also confirmed for the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali, as well.
