Nebraska Falls in Five Sets to Utah

The Huskers had never lost to the Utes before Saturday.

The first blemish of 2021 hit No. 3 Nebraska (6-1) Saturday.

After running off the first two sets 25-18 and 26-24, No. 20 Utah (7-0) stormed back to earn the reverse sweep by take the last three sets 27-25, 25-22, and 15-13.

"We had our chances to win it 3-0 and didn't get it done," Nebraska coach John Cook said.

A big reason why is the All-American outside hitter for Utah Dani Drews. One of the nation's leaders in kills, Drews led the match with 27 while adding 16 digs for the double-double.

"I told you Dani Drews was worth the price of admission," Cook said. "She willed that team to a victory."

Husker setter Nicklin Hames had her fifth straight double-double with 39 assists and 17 digs. Lindsay Crouse led Nebraska with 15 kills on .317 hitting to go with five blocks.

"It sucks right now," Krause said. "Its a learning moment. We just have to use it and take what we can and learn from it and go into the next match head-on."

The next match is at Stanford (4-2) Wednesday. The Huskers and Cardinals last met in 2019 when Stanford won in four sets in Lincoln. In the 2018 national championship, the Cardinals prevailed in five sets.
