No. 6 Nebraska Drops Third-Straight in Sweep

Undefeated No. 5 Louisville handled the No. 6 Huskers from start to finish Saturday.

For the first time in 30 years, Nebraska volleyball has dropped three consecutive non-conference matches in the same season.

No. 5 Louisville (10-0) swept No. 6 Nebraska (6-3) Saturday, with the Huskers only getting to 20 points once. The Cardinals allowed Nebraska to score just 17, 20, and 18 points in the three sets.

Louisville dominated from the first serve, hitting .324 in the first set as part of a .255 hitting performance on the night. Nebraska managed a season-low .046 hitting.

"Louisville completely outplayed us," Nebraska John Cook said. "We just really did nothing. Didn't really even compete like we need to.

"Why? I don't know. Back to the drawing board."

The loss is the third straight for the Huskers, after previous losses to No. 20 Utah and No. 16 Stanford. The last time Nebraska had such a stretch outside of conference play came in 1991. The last time a three-match losing streak happened at all was in 2018 during a conference run against Penn State, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.

Next up for Big Red is Big Ten play, beginning Wednesday at Northwestern.
