Margaret Qualley is standing up for FKA twigs after she came forward with bombshell assault accusations against their shared ex, Shia LaBeouf.
“I believe her,” the 26-year-old daughter of famed actress Andie MacDowell told Harper’s Bazaar as she was promoting her upcoming Netflix limited series Maid — where she plays a character who has endured extreme emotional abuse.
Qualley was dating the Even Stevens alum while filming Maid. She split from the actor in January, weeks after twigs slapped LaBeouf with a lawsuit claiming physical and sexual abuse.
After the “Sad Day” songstress detailed her abuse earlier this year, Qualley took to Instagram to say “Thank you” to the 33-year-old for being brave and sharing her story.
When asked why she publicly showed her support, the My Salinger Year star said it was necessary to show twigs she believed what she was saying.
“It was important to me for her to know that I believe her — and it's as simple as that," Qualley told the outlet.
As OK! previously reported, twigs — whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett — sued ex LaBeouf in December 2020 for sexual and physical assault. In the lawsuit, she claimed the former Disney star physically, emotionally and mentally abused her throughout their relationship.
She also alleged that LaBeouf knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease and went to great lengths to hide it from her.
In 2019, the “Two Weeks” singer started to experience “unusual and painful physical symptoms.” When she told LaBeouf how she was feeling, he “admitted that he suffered from a sexually transmitted disease which had been diagnosed years earlier.”
“LaBeouf admitted that he had never told Tahliah about his condition before, even though they had been sexually intimate for many months,” court papers stated. “Further, LaBeouf admitted that he had experienced a flareup of his disease’s symptoms in December 2019, but worked to hide his outward symptoms from Tahliah by applying makeup.”
Following twigs' shocking claims, the Honey Boy star was dropped by his talent agency, checked himself into rehab and has recently rekindled his romance with ex-wife Mia Goth.
