Cosplayer Yandere Freak privates TikToks after being charged with manslaughter

A TikToker and cosplayer has been charged with manslaughter after allegedly killing a high school friend with a firearm by accident.

Mary Anne "snowthesaltqueen" Oliver-Snow is known as yandere.freak on TikTok where she has 1.6 million followers. Her TikToks are now private but she was known for her anime-themed content, including a lot of cosplay videos.

Snow was arrested on January 18. She gave a statement about the unfortunate event at Harris County District Courts. On January 17, Snow had "recklessly caused the death of Helen Rose Hastings" when she pointed a handgun at the victim and then pulled the trigger. Snow allegedly thought the bullets had been taken out. There were six witnesses.

According to a police statement, Snow was drunk at the time. During a party, the group of friends had been watching "Gotham." Apparently, Snow had told the victim that she "had a gun like Penguin does."

The victim allegedly responded: "Oh, shoot me."

That's when Snow "pretended" to shoot her friend, not knowing that the bullet was loaded.

There were six witnesses at the party. One witness said she moved the gun away from Snow after the shooting, then “got a large red and white stuffed bear and used it to compress pressure onto the Complainant, making sure the Complainant was still breathing, leaning over to listen to her heartbeat.”

Who is Yandere Freak on TikTok?

Following booking, Snow was released on a $20,000 bond. But it wasn't until September 27 that the internet started talking about the incident and speculating what had happened.

Up until now, Snow was posting cosplay to their TikTok account. Some followers felt disturbed that Snow was acting like nothing happened. Some called it a "slap in the face." Others were sympathetic towards Snow's troubling situation.

The manslaughter case is now set for evidence exchange on October 21.
