CHEVROLET SILVERADO EV WILL DEBUT IN JANUARY AT CES 2022

Chevrolet is preparing a rebuttal to the Ford F-150 Lightning, but that’s just one truck being readied by parent company General Motors. The first electric truck to hit the market from The General will be the GMC Hummer EV, followed by the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV (or something similar). We’ve been keeping you up to date on the news regarding this family of electric trucks, and now Chevrolet has announced that the all-electric Silverado will debut at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show in January, happening in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Chevrolet Silverado EV Reveal

CES is an impossibly massive, highly influential technology event, and global automakers have shouldered their way through the sea of cell phones, gadgets, computers and everything in between to have a cornerstone presence there. It’s the scale of the Consumer Electronics Show that has automakers like GM, Ford and others reserving some of their biggest annual announcements for this event specifically.

For example, it’s not like GM Chair & CEO Mary Barra would drop in at an auto show to deliver an opening keynote at an auto show. But that’s exactly what she’s doing for CES, on January 5th, 2022. With that keynote will be the debut of the Chevrolet Silverado EV, which could be on the market as soon as late next year. Which would be an incredible turnaround – even faster than the mighty Hummer EV, which only began development in April 2019, with start of production for the very limited Edition 1 happening by the end of the year. A record-setting and absurdly quick development timeline.

Chevrolet also released a four-second video that teased another feature on the truck: a fixed glass roof, which is meant to offer additional headroom, better visibility, and an enhanced riding experience for both front and rear passengers. This will be the first application of an available fixed-glass roof on a GM pickup in the full-size truck segment.

Chevrolet Silverado EV: Details

We also know, just like the Hummer EV Edition 1, that the Chevrolet Silverado EV will offer Four Wheel Steering, which will tighten the turn radius at lower speeds. The mechanism will also reduce body roll when changing lanes at high speeds. The combination promises to improve the handling of the vehicle, and with the extra weight that comes with the batteries, it’ll come in handy. We also know that the Silverado EV will have 24-inch wheels, the largest wheels ever placed on a GM truck.

The expected range of the Chevrolet electric pickup truck will be around 400 miles. With our glimpse at the glass roof, it definitely sounds like it will be a “stunning” vehicle. Of course, we’ll have to wait until January to know precisely what the Silverado EV will look like along with its capabilities.
