The 2023 Corvette Z06 reveal is just 19 days away at the time of this writing, and it’s time to get primed for it. Today we have a detail coming from Corvette Forum, where a senior member uploaded a few photos of a Red Mist C8 Z06 and a whole film crew surrounding it during what appears to be a photo and video shoot in the middle of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
2023 Corvette Z06: What To Expect
The C8 Corvette Z06 can be best described as American Spaghetti. There’s just too much Ferrari-esque characteristics of this car to describe it as anything else. And it all starts with the engine: a brand-new 5.5L V8 with a DOHC design, a flat-plane crankshaft, and an 8,000+ RPM redline. This is a first for GM, as this LT6 V8 engine is expected to push north of 600 horsepower, and rocket from 0-60 in well under three seconds, thanks to superior traction management, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires. And, if Chevrolet was able to get a clean lap, the 2023 Corvette Z06 with the high-performance Z07 Package should circle around the infamous Nürburgring in under seven minutes; making it the fastest American production car to ever do so.
Visual changes that are coming to the 2023 Corvette Z06 compared to the entry-level Corvette Stingray include a more aggressive front end, along with a wider body design with flared wheel fenders. Bigger brakes, unique wheels, and a center-exit exhaust will round out the exterior aesthetic. The interior is expected to be much of the same as the Stingray, but with Z06-specific decals.
The Corvette Z06 was first offered in 1963, and featured a 360 hp fuel-injected small-block V8 engine, a 36.5-gallon fiberglass fuel tank, a four-speed manual transmission, a close-ratio manual transmission and Positraction rear end. 50 years later, and the next chapter of the Corvette Z06 story is about to start.
