Putting on a united front!
The Talk cohosts — including Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Akbar Gbajabiamila — got into the holiday spirit and were all smiles as they showed off their fabulous Halloween costumes.
Despite everything appearing peachy keen on TV, OK! recently learned behind-the-scenes there is tension between the cohost, mainly Underwood and Morales.
“Sheryl and Natalie seemingly get along fine, but there is some unspoken tension,” a source spilled, noting the former NBC News anchor getting the coveted role as moderator has irked the comedian.
“Since the moderator position has been taken away from Sheryl and given to Natalie, Sheryl can’t help interjecting herself and stepping on Natalie’s role and cueing the other hosts,” the source continued. “[Sheryl] asks, ‘what about you? Have anything to add?”
The source explained, “Natalie won’t say anything, but you can tell it’s annoying and borderline disrespectful.”
Underwood’s disdain for the veteran news personality has been reportedly since she was “blindsided” by Morales being hired in the first place as she “felt she should have been consulted and kept in the loop out of respect for her seniority with the show.”
“There is so much hoopla surrounding Natalie and so much publicity and airtime devoted to her joining the show,” the source quipped, and it’s apparently rubbing the 58-year-old the wrong way her cohosts are outshining her.
“Amanda has Dancing with the Stars and is getting lots of attention so that makes Sheryl feel like she's not getting the eyeballs that she wants,” the insider dished, adding: “Sheryl feels she isn't getting credit for being the glue that holds the show together.”
