The SEMA Show is one of, if not the biggest, car show in the world. It’s an event that collides just about every single automotive subculture, taste and industry into one place. That includes the growing scene of electric vehicles. To celebrate this, Ford Performance brought the mighty Mustang Mach-E 1400, as well as the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 dragster. The liveries for these two electric Mustangs represent the third for the Mach-E 1400, and the second for the Cobra Jet 1400.
Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400 And Cobra Jet 1400: An Electrifying Pair
Both vehicles are extremely capable machines in their own respect. RTR Vehicles and retired Formula D champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. continues to demonstrate the radical capabilities of the Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400, being right in the heart of the Ford Romeo Proving Grounds in Michigan, or as far away as the beautiful Faroe Islands. While it may not win over the most rigid of Mustang muscle heads, the performance and capabilities of the Mach-E 1400 is undeniable. It took 10,000 hours to develop, they say.
The Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, on the other hand, had aspirations to break performance goals without ever using any fuel. And it did. The Cobra Jet managed to post a quarter mile time of 8.26 seconds at 167 miles an hour in June of this year in its first NHRA demonstration. On its second run, the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 posted an even better 8.12 second time at 171.97 miles per hour and produced a whopping 1,502 horsepower. That horsepower alone equates to three 2021 Mustang GT V8 engines combined.
The world awaits what’s next for these two electric Mustangs. And if Ford CEO Jim Farley gets his way, Big Blue might make a point and drag race a Tesla Model S plaid with the mighty Mach-E 1400. What point does it prove? Ultimately, that electric vehicles have a place when it comes to performance and motorsports. If it’s done right.
