FORD PERFORMANCE TAKES HOME THREE SEMA AWARDS WITH MUSTANG, BRONCO AND F-SERIES

It’s the middle of the 2021 SEMA Show as we speak, and the Las Vegas Convention Center has been swarmed with over a thousand modified vehicles of all shapes, tastes, powertrains, and budgets. But if you wanted to speed run the event, and just check out the best, SEMA just announced their Top Trending awards, and Ford Performance dominated the list with three popular products: the Ford Bronco (4×4/SUV of the Year), Ford Mustang (Car of the Year), and Ford F-Series (Full-Size Truck of the Year). The Sport Compact of the Year and Mid-Size Truck of the Year awards went to the Toyota Supra and Toyota Tacoma.

The SEMA Top Trending Awards is based on what manufacturers are investing the most in. SEMA therefore crowned these five vehicles, as consumers should expect to find greater options for accessorizing these vehicles both in the present and in the future.

These awards seem to have Ford’s big blue oval glowing a little brighter at the 2021 SEMA Show, but we can feel a bit of resentment coming from both the Mopar and Chevy camps. The Jeep Wrangler was effectively de-throned from its 4×4/SUV of the Year award, which it wins regularly. And for Chevrolet, the floor teaming with kitted up Corvettes, lost out to something not nearly as present. Maybe the organization gave it the thumbs down because you can’t effectively tune the C8’s ECU. But that’s just us speculating.

Like in years prior, Ford Performance brings a massive presence to the SEMA Show, anchoring the Central Hall with a massive display of over 25 customized vehicles. Ford also had a separate exhibit outside, focused primarily on the Ford Bronco, where show-goers could experience the new SUV first hand through a brief ride-along loop featuring off-road obstacles and water fording. Along with that, there were multiple Bronco race trucks on display, including the V8-powered Bronco DR on Tuesday.

Ford also had on display the electric Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 dragster and Mustang Mach-E 1400 in new liveries. The latter of which is being demonstrated by Vaughn Gittin Jr. all week to a crowd that will certainly experience tire smoke, but not a peep of an engine sound.
