2023 CORVETTE Z06 IS A 10-SECOND CAR

The 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 continues to be more and more impressive as we learn more about it. With a hand-built DOHC flat-plane 5.5L LT6 V8 engine that produces 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, it’s already the most powerful vehicle of its kind that the world has ever seen. But how effectively does it put all of that power to the pavement? Well, we already understand that it can sprint to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds, which makes it the quickest Corvette ever. Even quicker than the 755 C7 Corvette ZR1, which had 85 more horsepower, and over 250 more lb-ft of torque. Pretty remarkable stuff, really. But what about the C8 Corvette Z06 quarter mile time?

Thanks to an image of the promotional board standing beside a 2023 Corvette Z06 that was published on the Corvette Forum, we can see the official time stamps of the vehicle—going from 0-60 in 2.6 seconds with a quarter-mile time of 10.6 seconds. Unfortunately, there is still no news on the trap speed for the Z06, but since the time is the same as the 2019 Corvette ZR1, which had a trap speed of 134 MPH, it’s safe to say that it’s somewhere within that range. It’s also three-tenths quicker than that of the previous-generation Z06, for reference.

While it’s hard to read in the photo, we’re pretty sure the disclaimer is that these times are with the Z07 package. Which, for the C8 Corvette Z06, means adding Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R ZP tires along with a bunch of other hardware, like carbon fiber wheels. The stickiness of these super high-performance summer-only tires, the lightning-quick shifting Tremec DCT, and superior rear-end weight distribution over the wheels, are all likely key factors in the new Z06 matching the old ZR1 in the quarter mile.

The 2023 Corvette Z06 debuts on the 60th anniversary model year for the trim level, and on the 70th anniversary of the Corvette nameplate. With over 11,000 possible build combinations for the Z06, there’s bound to be a perfect supercar that fits your style. As a result, there’s likely to be high demand for the Z06, with thousands already on dealer reservation lists.
