A gunfight has started between militants and government forces in Bemina of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Thursday evening.
Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Bemina.
As the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.
A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.
Earlier an unidentified militant was killed in an ongoing encounter at Chawalgam area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday.
Official sources said that one militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter, however identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.
