3 thieves arrested in Budgam, body of a mentally challenged woman recovered in Pulwama

Three thieves were arrested while the body of a mentally challenged woman was also recovered in Kashmir.

According to Police in Budgam they solved a burglary case by arresting three accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property from their possession.

On 13/11/2021, Police Post Humhama received a written complaint from one person namely Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar of Humhama stating therein that some unknown thief/thieves have stolen golden ornaments from his residential house. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 340/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Budgam and investigation was initiated, police said in a statement.

“During the course of investigation, officers taking advantage of modern techniques and gadgets were able to zero in one suspect identified as Mehraj-ud-Din Dar and during questioning officers learnt about his involvement in the commission of crime along with two more accomplices identified as Tawfeeq Ahmed Bhat son of Sanaullah Bhat resident of Tangpora Batamaloo & Meenamul Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmed Shah resident of old Barzullah. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody,” it added.

On their disclosure, stolen property including 07 gold rings, 03 golden ear rings and 02 Pounds were recovered from their possession. Further investigation of the case is in progress. Meanwhile bBody of an elderly mentally challenged woman was found in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday evening. A police official told GNS that the body was spotted by some passersby in Rajpora, following which a team visited the site and took the body into its possession.

Identifying the deceased as Azi Begum, 65, wife of Ghulam Ahmad Dar, resident of Akhal Rajpora, the official said that the family had reported about her missing on November 8, 2021.

The body was handed over to the family after conducting necessary medico-legal formalities, the official added. ( With inputs from GNS)
