In 2021, Triston Casas was one of the most talked-about prospects in baseball. The former first-round pick appeared in 86 games and had the best minor league season of his career. As Casas moved closer to the majors, he also shined in the Olympics, where U.S.A fell one win short of a gold medal. With the offseason now in full swing, Casas is building on his breakout campaign.
During the regular season, Casas split time between Portland and Worcester. In 77 games for Portland, he drove in 52 runs and posted a .395 on-base percentage. The 21-year-old was a key bat for Seadogs while overcoming a slow start. After hitting 13 home runs in 77 games, he moved one step closer to Boston with a promotion to Worcester, where he hit .242 in nine games. Over the last three weeks, his success has translated to the Arizona Fall League.
Through 18 games, Casas is batting .357. The Miami native has been hard to keep off the bases as he has 25 hits and 13 walks. While Casas only has six extra-base hits, five of them have been doubles. Alongside some of the best prospects in the game, Casas has stood out. On Saturday night, he continued to dazzle in the AFL Fall Stars game.

On Saturday night, Casas had one hit in three at-bats. His only hit of the game was a ground-rule double, nearly scoring the East’s third run. His impressive run in Scottsdale continued as the American Heritage High School product has the fourth-highest average among Fall League qualifiers. In the field, he has been just as impressive.
Casas is showing his value in every area of the game
In 157 innings of play, Casas has only committed two errors. That has led to a .987 fielding percentage, Which is one of the best in his career. He has also turned ten double plays to go along with nine assists. Regardless of the situation, he is showing why Boston sees him as a fixture of their roster for years to come.
After ending the 2021 season in Triple-A, Casas’s MLB debut could come at some point next summer. He has a dynamic bat and has held his own in the field. Over the few weeks in Scottsdale, his game has continued to improve against tough competition. Although the 2022 campaign is still months away, Casas has continued to create excitement in Arizona.
