Week 10 of the 2021 NFL season is in the books. For the majority of the league, Tuesday morning brings a whole new week of football and preparing for their next game. However, a handful of players might not want to leave Week 10 so soon. Here’s a look at who impressed and who underachieved this week.
All point totals are based on PPR scoring.
Quarterback
Winner: Patrick Mahomes (46.24 FPTS)
He’s back. Mahomes dominated on Sunday night, completing 35 of 50 pass attempts for 406 yards and five touchdowns. After a multi-week slump, he rewarded fantasy managers with a QB1 finish. There was never any doubt that he was a must-start, but he remains a top option heading into Week 11 vs. Dallas.
Loser: Matt Ryan (0.68 FPTS)
After putting up at least 19 points in six of his last seven games, Ryan gave fantasy managers a dud this past Sunday. The veteran managed to complete just nine of 21 passes for 117 yards, zero touchdowns, and two picks in the loss to Dallas. He’s not worth starting in Week 11 against a Patriots defense that just stifled Baker Mayfield.
Running Back
Winner: Darrel Williams (29.4 FPTS)
Williams isn’t the first Chief mentioned here, nor will he be the last. The receiving back finished Sunday night with 11 rushes for 43 yards plus an additional nine catches for 101 yards and a touchdown through the air. He has now posted double-digit fantasy finishes in five of his last seven games and finds himself squarely in the RB2 conversation until Clyde Edwards-Helaire returns.
Loser: Myles Gaskin (5.5 FPTS)
Gaskin couldn’t get much going on Thursday night, totaling 45 yards on 15 touches during Miami’s win over the Ravens. He has been incredibly unpredictable this far but should, in theory, carry fantasy relevance heading into a Week 11 clash against the Jets.
Wide Receiver
Winner: Deebo Samuel (30.3 FPTS)
Another week, another WR1 finish from Samuel. The third-year wideout has emerged not only as the best receiver in San Francisco but also one of the best in the entire NFL. This past week, he caught five passes for 97 yards and a touchdown while also adding five carries, 36 rushing yards, and a score on the ground. He’s a start-and-forget and should remain in the high-end WR1 conversation for the rest of the season.
Loser: A.J. Brown (3.3 FPTS)
Brown struggled to do much despite the absences of Julio Jones and Derrick Henry. He ultimately finished with just one catch for 16 yards while also rushing the ball once. He should bounce back in a favorable matchup against Houston, but it is becoming evident that Brown is capable of letting fantasy managers down from time to time. After all, he has posted single-digit fantasy performances in more than half of his games.
Tight End
Winner: Travis Kelce (19.9 FPTS)
Hunter Henry was in consideration here, but the fact that he caught just four passes doesn’t bode well for any potential tiebreaker. Instead, we’ll look at yet another Chiefs player. Kelce, the consensus TE1, hauled in eight of 10 targets for 119 yards. He has now posted at least 13.5 fantasy points in eight of 10 games.
Loser: T.J. Hockenson (0.0 FPTS) and Mike Gesicki (0.0 FPTS)
It’s hard to get worse than zero. This week, we saw two top-eight tight ends fail to catch a pass. They should bounce back in their respective matchups next Sunday, but one can’t deny how disappointing Hockenson and Gesicki were in Week 10.
Defense
Winner: Dallas Cowboys (22.0 FPTS)
The Cowboys’ defense was dominant this week after stumbling against Denver just one game prior. This time around, against Atlanta, Dallas logged three interceptions, two sacks, one blocked kick, and one touchdown all while allowing just three points. With that said, they could get a reality check against the Chiefs next week.
Loser: Las Vegas Raiders (-7.0 FPTS)
Vegas had no answers for the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Its defense tallied just one turnover but also allowed 41 points and failed to record a sack. This was the first time the Raiders’ unit finished in the negative range all season long. They’ll face another unfavorable matchup in Week 11 as the Bengals come to town.
