Elon Musk tweeted earlier this week that there is an update coming about the Tesla Cybertruck during the company’s Q4 2021 earnings call, expected to take place in January, 2022.
“Oh man, this year has been such a supply chain nightmare & it’s not over!” Musk tweeted this as a reply to another user asking for an update on the Cybertruck.

Tesla Cybertruck Updates Ahead Of Growing Competition
Originally announced back in 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck has become an extended project some say should be cancelled altogether as its sheen has dulled over time with the first wave of electric trucks already seeing production such as the GMC Hummer EV, upcoming Ford F-150 Lightning, and the trikckling-out Rivian R1T.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has even said he doesn’t care if the Cybertruck sells well, he loves it and wants to pursue the project regardless, even if it may flop. While supply chain issues have made their presence known, other vehicle manufacturers have been able to provide electrified trucks in spite of it all. This has to make you wonder, what is so special about it?

The Tesla Cybertruck website claims it will have a range of 500 miles and 0-60 time under 3-seconds. It also claims to be able to tow more than 14,000 pounds and offers 100 cubic feet of exterior lockable storage. The ability to raise and lower the suspension and enable a self leveling technology are some of the other highlights noted as well.
The Tesla Cybertruck is also expected to bear some updates before hitting production such as utilizing rear-wheel steering like that of the GMC Hummer Ev and its Crabwalk mode, per a previous MC&T report.
Recently, a Tesla Cybertruck was filmed driving in circles near an airport featuring windshield wipers and physical mirrors, both of which are still requirements to be considered street legal. While you can no longer configure your Tesla Cybertruck online, you can still put a refundable $100 deposit on one that should hopefully begin production this time next year. Pricing is expected to be adjusted from the original promise.
