Nebraska drops back-to-back games by 30 points for the first time in program history
Nebraska followed up a big loss Tuesday with a big loss Saturday.
The Huskers (5-6, 0-2 Big Ten) trailed 8-7 early, but a 15-2 run by Auburn (8-1, 0-0 SEC) put the game at a double-digit deficit that Nebraska could never overcome. The Tigers won 99-68.
Chris Basnett of the Lincoln Journal Star reports this is the first time Nebraska men's basketball has dropped back-to-back games by at least 30 points each.
For the second game in a row, Nebraska's opponent shot 51 percent from the field. The Tigers also shot 45 percent from deep, making a season-high 14 3s.
Nebraska shot better from 3 than in recent games, making 7-of-22. The Huskers also shot 42 percent from the field, the best they've done in December.
But the Huskers committed a season-high 20 turnovers that turned into 30 Auburn points.
Four Huskers scored in double digits, led by CJ Wilcher with 17 points. Bryce McGowens chipped in 14 points.
Both Alonzo Verge Jr. and Derrick Walker scored 10 points and added four assists.
Nebraska is now on a four-game losing streak. The Huskers are off until next weekend when they host Kansas State.
