Gwen Stefani is trying to keep things civil between her new hubby and her ex.
As the No Doubt alum gears up for her first holiday season married to Blake Shelton, she is hoping that the country star can keep the peace.
While the newlyweds are still over the moon following their July wedding, a source says the crooner’s tension with Gavin Rossdale is just as high.
“Everyone’s bracing for some fireworks this Christmas,” dishes the source of the family's holiday plans.
Rossdale, who shares Kingston, 15, Zuma, 13, and Apollo, 7, with Stefani, “will have the boys during a portion of the holidays and will be popping over for pick-ups and drop-offs, so it’s bound to get uncomfortable,” explains the source.
“He has a way of sticking around and nosing into their business, which ticks Shelton off,” the insider continued. The "Hollaback Girl" singer was married to the Bush member for over 10 years before filing for divorce in 2015, citing "irreconcilable differences."
Stefani and Shelton met each other on the NBC hit singing competition show The Voice, where they both served as co-judges. They began dating in 2015 after bonding over their recent divorces. (Shelton was previously married to country artist Miranda Lambertbefore announcing their split in 2015).
The new husband-and-wife were going strong for years before Shelton popped the question in October 2020. On July 3, the pair officially tied the knot in an intimate at-home wedding at Shelton's ranch in Oklahoma.
According to our source, Rossdale, 56, still views Shelton, 45, “like some hillbilly who got lucky,” in dating his former wife. “It’s gotten under Blake’s skin of late because Gavin really knows how to press his buttons.”
Meanwhile, Stefani, 52, desperately wants Gavin and Blake — who both looked testy while cheering on Apollo at a baseball game in L.A. last month — “to act like adults,” while celebrating the holidays together, the source continues.
"But it’s like she’s got two extra kids on her hands,” the insider adds.
