Rod Stewart and his son Sean have both pleaded guilty to battery following an altercation that occurred in 2019.
The incident involved the rockstar's eldest son getting a bit rowdy and reportedly shoving a security guard — later identified as 33-year-old Jessie Dixon — at a New Year’s Eve party when they weren't allowed into a limited access children's party at Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
The 76-year-old then allegedly threw a closed fisted punch at the guard, hitting him in his side. According to Stewart's attorney, Guy Fronstin, that isn't what happened and no one was hurt in the minor altercation.
"No one was injured in the incident," Fronstin stated to AP, adding that "a jury did not find Sir Rod Stewart guilty of the accusation." (The "Maggie May" singer was knighted by Prince William at Buckingham Palace on October 11, 2016.)
The lawyer went on to explain the duo only entered a guilty plea as part of an agreement "to avoid the inconvenience and unnecessary burden on the court and the public that a high-profile proceeding would cause."
Despite pleading guilty to simple battery, Fronstin claims neither the rock legend nor his 41-year-old son will face jail time, fines, or probation, and there will be no trial in relation to the incident.
A representative for Palm Beach State Attorney Dave Aronberg has confirmed that Dixon agreed with the ruling.
