FORD MUSTANG GT CALIFORNIA SPECIAL HEADING TO AUSTRALIA

Ford Australia has just announced details and pricing for the 2022 model lineup in Australia. The 2022MY Mustang range is introducing updates to the Track Apps software, enabling users to use a Line Lock function while driving on a track. The feature will be standard on all 2022 Mustangs. In addition, the Mustang GT California Special (GT/CS) will be available to Australian customers for the first time.

Ever since the first-generation Mustang was released, the California Special represented a unique regionalized appearance package with unique styling cues. Based on the 2022 Mustang GT fastback and convertible models, the newest California Special Appearance Package pays homage to the original from the 1960s. With a blacked-out grille, lower bodyside accent stripe, and rear fender scoop, the heritage-inspired Mustang GT California Special side stripe traces from the front fender to the signature rear fender scoop.

A California Special badge in Ebony Black and Race Red script decorates the trunk lid, while the honeycomb grille with GT/CS badge provides a look that makes sure the vehicle stands out from the others. In addition, a larger front splitter from the GT Performance Package underscores the icon’s handling prowess. Meanwhile, a performance rear wing is available for the fastback model, and a spoiler delete is standard for the California Special convertible.

The Mustang GT California Special wears unique five-spoke 19-inch painted machined wheels. The interior of the vehicle features rich black Miko suede door trim inserts and suede-trimmed seats with the embossed “GT/CS” logo and red contrast stitching. The instrument panel is finished in carbon hex aluminum with a signature California Special script badge on the passenger side.

Pricing for the Mustang GT California Special begins at $67,290 AUD for the manual Fastback version, automatic is $70,290 AUD, and the convertible is $77,990 AUD. The updated Mustang is due to arrive within Aussie showrooms in the second quarter of 2022.
