A crass anti-Joe Biden meme made for a crass holiday moment on Christmas Eve during President Joe Biden’s phone call with a child tracking Santa’s flight when the father said, “Let’s Go Brandon.”

A watered-down version of “F— Joe Biden,” the slogan has been an internet sensation since a sports journalist told NASCAR driver Brandon Brown after his first win that a crowd shouting the vulgarity was saying, “Let’s go Brandon.”

Biden and his wife, Jill, were taking calls into the North American Aerospace Defense Command Santa Tracker. At the end of one call, a parent who called himself Jared said, “Merry Christmas and Let’s go Brandon.”

“Let’s go Brandon, I agree,” Biden responded, before the call was disconnected.

Much about the exchange is unclear: the caller’s original intent, why the president repeated the phrase, and whether he knew what it meant.

Brown has distanced himself from the anti-Biden slogan, saying, “I don’t want to be the substitute for a cuss word.”
