JD Gaming signs Hope as its new bot laner for 2022 LPL

JD Gaming has completed its 2022 LPL roster after signing former EDward Gaming bot laner Wang “Hope” Jie.

With the 2022 LPL Spring Split start just around the corner, JDG has completed its star-studded roster with a bit of the wild card for the bot lane. The team’s bot laner will be the 21-year-old player Hope, who joins the team after four years under the EDG banner.

Hope has had a shaky career on EDG, where he has bounced in and out of the main LPL roster. During the 2021 summer split, Hope acted as a substitute for EDG but didn’t get to play during the split or the organization’s run at the 2021 World Championship where it came out as the winner.

What is the JD Gaming 2022 LPL roster?

To get a new shot in the LPL as a starting player, Hope will be looking to bring back JD Gaming to the top together with some experienced and well-known players. JDG had a fantastic season in 2020 but didn’t live up to that in 2021. With a disappointing 12th-place finish during the 2021 LPL Summer Split, JDG will be needing lots of improvements to rebound in the new season.

Hope won’t be the only new addition to JDG, as the team has also picked up former Top Esports top laner Bai “369” Jia-Hao and the young jungler Dai “Xiao17” Ying-Jie to learn from main jungler Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok.

JDG has also kept mid laner Zeng “Yagao” Qi for another season, who will act as the team’s anchor together with Kanavi. The duo has previously proven to be one of the best in the LPL, but only time will tell if they can reach that level of play again. If not, then a lot of responsibility will likely be on Hope, who will be playing alongside support Lou “Missing” Yun-Feng.

JDG LPL roster for 2022:

  • Top – Bai “369” Jia-Hao
  • Jungle – Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok / Dai “Xiao17” Ying-Jie
  • Mid – Zeng “Yagao” Qi
  • Bot – Wang “Hope” Jie
  • Support – Lou “Missing” Yun-Feng

Hope will debut on JDG when the team is back on Summoner’s Rift from Tuesday, January 11.
