TOP GEAR GETS A CLOSER LOOK AT THE 2023 CORVETTE Z06

The 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 is, undeniably, a supercar. Its LT6 engine, for example, is the most powerful naturally aspirated DOHC V8 to ever affix itself in a production vehicle, while its downforce and cornering forces are more extreme than any Corvette that has existed before it. Each and every Z06 – whether it has a Z07 package or not – is bound to be built with a smile down in Bowling Green, Kentucky when it begins production this summer.

Moreover, the new Corvette Z06 won’t just be sold where it’s built. It will be exported globally, including countries that drive on the wrong side of the road, like Great Britain. As such, Top Gear sent one of their guys to L.A. for an exclusive look at the two most famous examples of the C8 Z06. They humored the local audience by using the proper “Zee” pronunciation for the model designation.

After getting inside the car, we get a look at the new full-dipped Adrenaline Red interior, then get a chance to listen to the LT6 as it revs to life. Those wondering how the roof might be stored can find out how easy it is within this video. Next up is the Amplify Orange drop-top Z07 “RS” version, which starred in the reveal video.

C8 Corvette Z06 vs. Porsche 911 GT3

The remainder of the video details a considerable amount of information regarding the Z06 and comparison notes with the Porsche 911 GT3. The British power-to-weight ratios of the two cars place the 911 in at 360 horses per ton, while the Z06 far surpasses that at 429 hp per ton. Finally, for those that are interested in the pricing for the Z06, once it manages to get overseas, it’ll likely be over £100,000 ($134,979 USD). However, it will likely still be cheaper than the 911 GT3, which means Corvette’s decision to bring the Z06 overseas could be a very successful business decision.

Stateside, the 2023 Corvette Z06 is expected to be almost half the price of the 911 GT3, suggesting once again that Porsche customers continue to be suckers.
