THIS MODERN CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS IS ACTUALLY A FIFTH-GEN CAMARO ZL1

In the 1960s, Chevrolet had an array of muscle cars in its showroom. The Impala SS, the C2 Corvette Sting Ray, the original Camaro, the Nova SS, and of course, the mighty Chevelle. One of the most iconic model years of the Chevrolet Chevelle SS was 1969, which features a style that fans can quickly identify, and goes down as one of the most coveted Chevrolets of all time. Alas, the Chevelle has long been no more. So – in an attempt to resurrect it into the modern era, somebody has grafted the likeness of a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS onto the body of a fifth-generation Camaro ZL1. Say hello to the Vision Retro Designs A69 Limited Edition muscle car.

Vision Retro Designs A69 Limited Edition: Details

Vision Retro Designs has taken a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 convertible and gave it a makeover to bring about what they are calling the A69 Limited Edition. This particular car serves as the lead prototype and promotional vehicle. The A69’s exterior incorporates carbon fiber in new body panels that conjures a modern interpretation of the legendary A-body Chevelle. The distinct “Dual-Dome” hood can be seen at the front with Heritage Design quad-unit Halo lights. Meanwhile, the car’s back features a Satin Black center panel that retains factory safety features like parking sensors and the back-up camera.

The A69 Limited Edition features a custom Sparkling Burgundy paint with exposed carbon rally stripes, matching the exposed carbon package on the lower spoilers. The 20-inch chrome split-spoke wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Sport tires further compliments the overall retro feel of the vehicle. Stopping power is provided by track-ready Brembo brakes, while the front features two-piece rotors with 6-piston calipers, and the rear has one-piece rotors with 4-piston calipers.

The inside of the reimagined Chevy Chevelle SS features custom Napa leather upholstery with red accents. The front seats nod to the past with Heritage Design headrests and custom A69 embroidery. The steering wheel and custom door sills feature carbon accents, and a serialized data plaque has been mounted on the dashboard and inside the driver’s door jamb. Under the hood, the A69 Limited Edition has a carbon “Feature Sweep” that showcases the 6.2-liter LSA supercharged V8 that produces 580 horsepower – the stock output in the fifth-gen Camaro ZL1. The engine is paired with an optional heavy-duty Hyrda Matic 6L90 automatic transmission for shifting duty. As a finishing touch, the strut tower brace is wrapped in carbon fiber, while a numbered data plaque rests on the engine cover.

This reimagined Chevy Chevelle SS that rides on the body of a fifth-gen Camaro ZL1 nods to the iconic muscle car’s past while giving present-day enthusiasts a more modern take on this classic. If you want to own this A69 Limited Edition muscle car prototype, it’ll be up for auction at Mecum Auctions this week.
