2022 GMC CANYON UPDATES HIGHLIGHTED BY DENALI BLACK EDITION PACKAGE

The sun is beginning to set on the GM’s current generation of its two midsize truck twins, which have been on the market since 2014. The next-generation Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon are expected to enter production sometime next year, as 2024 model-year vehicles, ushering in a new product lifecycle for both. MC&T was first to report these details back in summer of 2019. But, before that happens, GMC has decided to add a new package to the Canyon called the Denali Black Edition, which is an additional $2,380 USD, per the truck’s official configurator. Those that opt for the package will receive 20-inch wheels, assist steps, and black finished exhaust tips. The truck’s paint will also come exclusively in Onyx Black with the selection of the package.

2022 GMC Caynon: Updates And Details

The starting price for the mid-size pickup is $26,800 excluding taxes and $1,195 destination, and according to the Canyon’s official order guide, the 2.5-liter gasoline four-cylinder engine has limited availability. However, that’s likely not that big of a deal for many as most customers prefer the 3.6-liter gasoline V6 or the 2.8-liter Duramax four-cylinder turbo diesel. GMC has also decided to rename the High Elevation Package to Elevation Premium Package.

The 2021 model year GMC Canyon Denali came standard with Qi wireless charging for phones. However, the 2022 GMC Canyon Denali is offering it as an option. Another notable change is the spare wheel for the AT4 trim level, which is now available in gloss black. Depending on the configuration, the Canyon offers a 7.0 or 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with available satellite navigation. The system is a bit obsolete, but with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, most people won’t be using the built-in satellite navigation. In addition, OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi is also present and accounted for, along with a one-month trial worth 3 GB of internet data.

2022 GMC Canyon Elevation and AT4 trim levels come with a Rear Vision Camera, while the 2022 Canyon Denali flaunts the HD Rear Vision Camera. The Driver Alert Package, which includes Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning, is also standard on the Denali but optional on the Elevation and AT4 trims. Lastly, payload capacity is 1,570 pounds for the 3.6-liter crew cab, while the 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel offers 7,700 pounds of max towing capacity.
