LCS announces spring split event to celebrate 10th season

The LCS is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2022, and there’s going to be a big event to commemorate this at the beginning of the LCS season on January 14.

The event will take place before and during the beginning of the LCS Lock In Tournament on January 14, bringing back players and personalities from throughout the LCS’ history. It won’t stop there, with special episodes of official LoL esports content to follow.

LCS 10-year anniversary begins on January 14

The LCS released a statement earlier today looking back on the enormous growth of the league over the course of 10 years. The first LCS game took place in February of 2013 between Counter Logic Gaming and Team SoloMid. The celebrations begin with the start of the 2022 LCS Spring Split and will continue from there throughout the split

Fans can expect unique content going over some of the greatest moments in LCS history, as well as appearances from retired LCS legends. The obvious personalities who are likely to make appearances include Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi, Peng “Doublelift” Yilang, and William “Meteos” Hartman. All three were massively popular as co-streamers last split, and Riot may be looking to tap into that audience by bringing them onto the main broadcast.

From Replay Files to Masterminds, Riot’s varied content before LCS games will highlight the first decade of the league. These celebrations will conclude at the LCS 2022 Spring Finals, the location of which has not been announced. Fans can expect community personalities to return to the analyst desk, as well as short-form documentary content focusing on signature games in LCS history like Counter Logic Gaming’s triumph over TSM at Madison Square Garden.
