We previously covered that the Ford F-150 Lightning reservations had been closed in preparation for opening order banks, which we now know will begin on Thursday, January 6th. In combination with this announcement, Ford has opened the online configurator for the all-electric pickup, and we now get to see vehicle pricing. The base model Lightning Pro starts at $41,669 with destination, which isn’t that bad compared to the current competition. Meanwhile, the ultimate F-150 Lightning dubbed the Platinum trim is more than double the base cost with a starting MSRP of $92,569. That’s nearly the price of a Hummer EV Edition 1, and as much as a loaded Rivian R1T. It’s competition, the Chevrolet Silverado EV, debuts January 5 at noon, ET, and is expected to disclose pricing.
Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum: Details
The chunky price that hurts the wallet just to look at gives customers a fully loaded truck without any real options left to add, aside from accessories like floor liners and bed dividers. The extended-range battery pack is the standard option for the Platinum model, which Ford projects will give the high-end trucks 280 miles of range per charge. Which interestingly is 20 miles less than what’s expected to come out of the XLT and Lariat trims. It’s likely caused by all the added weight from the additional content. However, the dual-motor drivetrain provides 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft. of torque, which should provide plenty of go. President Joe Biden thinks so, at least.

The Max Trailer Tow package is also included enabling every Platinum F-150 Lightning to pull the full capacity of 10,000 pounds, which will undoubtedly drain the range considerably in the process. Ford’s 9.6-kilowatt Pro Power Onboard mobile inverter is located at the back of the truck and can power an entire house for three days straight or charge other EVs. Ford has undoubtedly created a luxury vehicle with advanced technology that can still work just like any normal F-150.
The interior of the F-150 Lightning Platinum is unique to the trim, which is just as plush as its EcoBoost counterpart. Despite the massive batteries underneath, the floor is the same height on the Lightning, which means the truck retains about the same dimensions as a regular F-150 inside and out. Eighteen-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio is integrated inside along with the 15.5-inch vertical display that controls everything from navigation to the massaging seats.
Ford has stated that it plans to produce 150,000 F-150 Lightning trucks annually, nearly double the previous target of 80,00 units which was already double of the original projection. The news comes as the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV reveal is about to take place, and we’re sure this was not by accident.
