It’s usually pretty tricky to know what’s going on with Tesla since the company doesn’t have an official communications department. Most of the information regarding the company comes from founder and CEO Elon Musk due to his active presence on Twitter. But according to Teslarati, it looks like electric automaker has removed the 2022 production estimate of the Tesla Cybertruck from the company’s official website. It’s hard to know the exact reasoning behind this sudden occurrence, but it could mean the electric pickup truck has been delayed even further.
When Tesla has significant announcements to make, it is usually done through Musk on Twitter. However, if the company makes small changes, they generally just update their website without any indication of changes happening until others discover and report them. These kinds of updates can range from price and configuration changes to production and delivery updates. For example, it looks like Tesla had made a few changes to the Cybertruck order page a few weeks ago, where Tesla’s website stated that Cybertruck reservation holders would be able to complete their configuration once “production nears in 2022.” Now the website simply says, “as production nears.”

There is also a rumor that Musk has a major announcement to make concerning the new Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. The plant is expected to open soon and will start with producing the Model Y before eventually producing the Cybertruck as well. Either way, clarification on the Tesla Cybertruck is expected to take place during the company’s Q4 2021 earnings call this month. It’s expected that more than a few changes are set to be made official, including the addition of a four-motor Cybertruck, and the addition of a Hummer EV-style Crabwalk Mode.
They do, of course, have to fix the windshield wiper.
