THE 2024 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EV REVEAL: IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Rivian has an electric pick-up truck, Ford has an electric truck, GMC has an electric truck, Tesla is still working on it. And this week, the world greeted the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. The debut video was short and sweet at just over 10 and a half minutes. Have a look just below:

Starting with the chassis, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is built with independent front and rear suspension that is coupled with an automatic adaptive air suspension system supplying a smooth ride over most terrain. The Silverado EV also sports four-wheel steering, allowing for a reduced turning circle, giving way to impressive maneuverability for its size. All of this is powered by two motors attached to the available 24-inch wheels that, together, comprise the e4WD system that supplies 10,000 pounds of towing capability on the RST model.

Under the cab of the all-electric pick-up truck are the GM Ultium batteries, a source of power we’ve seen before in the likes of the GMC Hummer EV. The 24-module pack allows for a single full charge range of 400 miles on RST models. Both iterations of the Silverado EV will feature standard DC fast-charging of up to 350 Kw that, based on GM estimates, will add 100 miles of range in a matter of only 10-minutes. Additionally, the RST Silverado EV will feature a “Wide Open Watts” mode that pushes base horsepower to an adjusted 664 horsepower and 780 ft-lbs of torque allowing for a sub 4.5 second 0-60 time, which makes it faster than the Ford F-150 Lightning.

Storage is plentiful in the Silverado EV as it features a folding midgate, like the avalanche used to have. The bed of the truck is 5.9 feet long, however, utilizing the Multi-Flex tailgate and Midgate together, it enlarges total bed length to 10 feet 10 inches. The front end of the Silverado EV also features a storage compartment for your grocery and suitcase needs as well.

Inside the all-electric Chevy pick-up truck are gadgets galore, the infotainment section features a massive 17-inch main hub with an 11-inch digital gauge cluster. Oh, and a 14-inch heads up display as well. GM’s driver-assist Super Cruise technology is also featured on the RST that allows for hands free driving on compatible roads utilizing in-cab cameras to monitor driver attention.

Reservations for the Silverado EV are open now. Production is expected to begin in spring of 2023 with a fleet-only Work Truck model, before the RST First Edition goes into production that fall. Following that, a retail Silverado EV WT and baseline RST will be made available in the summer of 2024. All Chevrolet Silverado EV electric trucks will be built alongside the GMC Sierra EV and Hummer EV at the GM Factory Zero facility in Detroit-Hamtramck.
