DWAYNE 'THE ROCK' JOHNSON EXPRESSES INTEREST IN OWNING AN F-150 LIGHTNING

Hollywood star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has expressed his love for Ford products and its CEO, Jim Farley on social media, in response to news regarding the plans to produce 150,000 F-150 Lightning electric pickup trucks annually in order to keep up with the huge demand.

F-150 Lightning: “Delivering The Goods”

Jim Farley tweeted to his followers, stating, “In Sept., due to huge demand for #F150Lightning, we doubled our production plan from 40k to 80k trucks per year. The demand keeps growing, so we’re doubling it again and now plan to produce 150,000 annually. America wants an all-electric @Ford F-150, and we plan to deliver.”

Dwayne Johnson tweeted to his followers in response, stating, “Delivering the goods. I have my 350 SuperDuty for the farm, but as soon as we all get thru our supply chain dynamic I’ll try the #F150Lightning Keep delivering for the people and Happy New Year buddy” It didn’t take long after that for Farley to respond to Johnson by tweeting, “@TheRock Appreciate the support! It’s a huge challenge, but we’re making real progress. Plus investing billions in new battery and EV production in America. And I already promised @Schwarzenegger a test ride in a #F150Lightning, so we can pick you up.”

According to Detroit Free Press, Farley has also crossed paths with Arnold Schwarzenegger while working on global climate initiatives. In July, after Schwarzenegger saw global coverage of the Ford F-150 Lightning reveal in Dearborn, he recognized that introducing an all-electric version of the bestselling truck in America would accelerate change in the world.

Interacting with Hollywood actors and political leaders on social media works wonders in terms of marketing. People will see that these celebrities that they might look up to express interest and in turn shows that it might be worth paying attention to; that and it humanizes big companies as they interact with individual people.

It will be fun to see which celebrities and influencers choose between different electric trucks as they roll out. Because it’s not just the Lightning for their consideration. There’s also the Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV, soon-to-be Chevrolet Silverado EV, and (eventually) the Tesla Cybertruck.
