CHEVROLET SILVERADO EV RST EDITION ONE FULLY RESERVED IN JUST 12 MINUTES

If you missed it, Chevrolet just debuted the Silverado EV to the world about a week ago, which introduced the competitor with the Ford F-150 Lightning. And while Ford has announced production increases, it seems that each and every Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition has been fully reserved.

General Motors CEO Mary Barra recently had an interview with Bloomberg TV after the debut of the Silverado EV. Barra told Bloomberg’s David Westin that: “the reception, I have to tell you David, has been great. The First Edition of the RST sold out in 12 minutes, and reservations are still coming in.” However, it’s not clear how many First Editions Chevrolet has planned to produce. But if it’s like any other First Edition of a new vehicle, it’ll come fully loaded with everything the Silverado EV has to offer.

Still available for reservations is the retail version of the Chevrolet Silverado EV WT, which has an MSRP of under $40,000 and will be available in the summer of 2024, along with the non-First Edition Silverado EV RST. Production of the electric Silverado starts in the spring of 2023 with the fleet-only WT model, followed by the First Edition in the fall of 2023. A Silverado EV Trail Boss has been confirmed, as well.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is built with independent front and rear suspension coupled with an automatic adaptive air suspension system offering a smooth ride on almost any terrain. In addition, the electric truck features four-wheel steering, which allows for a smaller turning radius, optimizing the maneuverability of the pick-up. Two motors comprise the e4WD system that supplies 10,000 pounds of towing capability on the RST.

Underneath the cab of the all-electric pick-up truck is the GM Ultium batteries, which provide the same source of power we’ve seen in the GMC Hummer EV. The 24-module pack allows for a single full charge range of 400 miles on the RST, according to GM estimation. With DC fast-charging of up to 350 kW, GM estimates that customers can add 100 miles of range in a matter of 10 minutes. As for power, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition will feature a “Wide Open Watts” mode that adjusts the power output to 664 horsepower and 780 lb-ft of torque, allowing the truck to go from 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds – making it the quickest Silverado yet.
