CBB AP Poll Reaction: Week 10

Another week and another AP Poll has come out across the college basketball world. We had some serious shakeups this week with upsets galore in the top 10. While Covid-19 is still disrupting games across the nation, the initial blaze of it is dying out a bit and college basketball is back on track for the most part. Coming up, we have some big games this week with the Big 12 due for chaos, but for now, let’s dial in on the most recent poll.

Check out last week’s edition here.

The Tigers have been on a tear as of late. They’re on an 11 game winning streak with top wins over LSU and Loyola-Chicago. Auburn jumped the likes of USC and Arizona who have been ranked above them for much of the year in this week’s poll. The Tigers will take on rivals Alabama on Tuesday with huge SEC implications on the line.

Kansas Deserved to Fall Farther

Kansas has only played three Quad One teams and they’ve lost to one of them, Texas Tech. The win against Michigan State earlier in the season has clearly carried them in the rankings thus far but the Spartans have looked much better than they were in that game. Kansas’ résumé isn’t very good and they are being helped by big-school-bias this week.

Villanova Getting Hot Again

Since their fourth loss of the year to the No. 1 ranked team in America (Baylor), Villanova has not lost. Many thought this was the year that the best teams in the Big East would oust the Wildcats but it hasn’t happened. Villanova is sitting on a five-game win streak that includes victories over squads like Seton Hall and Xavier. A team once ranked in the 20s, the Wildcats have proven that they are still alive and well.
