Ringbrothers is a company known as one of the masters of building restomods, and their latest project puts a Hellcat V8 into a Pile Up Yellow 1969 Dodge Charger. The Charger has been given the name CAPTIV, and it embodies a perfect mix between classic looks and modern power.
1969 Dodge Charger CAPTIV: The Build
Believe it or not, this Ringbrothers build started in New Zealand, where it was disassembled and prepared before getting shipped overseas to the company’s shop in Spring Green, Wisconsin. After 4,000 hours, the CAPTIV Dodge Charger was complete featuring a shaker-style hood where the top of the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine peaks out of. A front splitter under the nose and side-exit exhausts behind the rear wheels helps with the iconic styling, while the body color is a custom BASF shade with black stripes that finish off the exterior look.

Ringbrothers has added a MoTeC engine management system along with a carbon-fiber driveshaft to the powerplant. Everything connects into a six-speed manual transmission. The vehicle rides on a set of HRE wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires wrapped around them. Baer six-piston brakes help the 1969 Dodge Charger come to a stop with ease, while adjustable shocks help the CAPTIV take corners like a pro. In addition, the Ringbrothers created a new unibody for the car, which allowed them to integrate the Flowmaster exhaust, which is regularly in Ringbrothers builds.
On the outside, CAPTIV largely resembles a stock 1969 Dodge Charger to a T, but the interior has received a complete overhaul. This Ringbrothers Dodge Charger features carbon-fiber steering wheel with billet aluminum spokes gives the driver a sporty feel. Just behind it sits a digital instrument cluster. A second screen that connects the center console to the dash sits just to the upper right. The Ringbrothers hid more details throughout the car for four-time Bathurst 1000 winner and broadcaster Greg Murphy. Murphy commissioned the build, and it’s bound to head back to New Zealand now that the build has been finished.
