Riot Games changes League of Legends event rewards after fan backlash

Riot Games has changed League of Legends event rewards yet again following fan criticism of the Debonair event.

After changing metrics that cared about games played or won into a points system that relied on time played, Riot Games has announced that it is changing League of Legends event rewards yet again. After the move meant to increase player payout resulted in slower token acquisition, something needed to change.

How do League of Legends event rewards work now?

The point conversion system that Riot Games implemented for the Debonair event will be carried over into the Lunar Revel event, which takes different forms across both Teamfight Tactics and League of Legends. However, missions’ thresholds have been lowered to better compensate with the actual rate of play from most players.

The League of Legends rewards will give six points per minute for a Summoner’s Rift game to the winning team, with four points per minute to the losing team. This is the same rate as ARAMs and ARURF, which will be returning as a part of the Lunar Revel event. Co-op vs. AI games give a pathetic two points per minute for winning and one for losing in order to prevent people from abusing the system.

Teamfight Tactics continues to shell out fewer rewards than League of Legends, with scaling points per minute depending on a player’s placement in a given game. Overall, the missions’ requirements have been cut by between 30 to 40 percent, with earlier missions getting even more of a reduction.

Do players get more Lunar Revel rewards?

Unlike the previous change, this rework of the event rewards payout is pure upside for everybody playing the event. Fans will have to play fewer games and wait less time to get their Festival Firecrackers, emotes, and other rewards from the 2022 Lunar Revel event.
