The Super Bowl commercial turned bitcoin giveaway

Want to bag yourself some bitcoin? Then tune into the Super Bowl. Or, more precisely, catch a commercial airing during the US's National Football League final, taking place on February 13.

Even the Super Bowl hasn't escaped the cryptocurrency trend! In fact, a commercial from FTX, a leading digital currency exchange, will give viewers of the game the chance to win bitcoins through a simple contest on Twitter. The exact time the commercial airs will determine the amount of bitcoin the four winners will receive. This is estimated at between eight and 10 bitcoins, as the ad would typically be broadcast during the second part of the game, which starts at 6:30 pm local California time. It will therefore be possible to win between eight and ten coins with a current value of $43,500. However, you have to be a US resident to enter the contest.

FTX will not be the only crypto company to run an ad during the most-watched sporting event of the year. Crypto.com, which recently bought the Los Angeles Lakers' stadium naming rights, has purchased 30 seconds of airtime for a cool $6.5 million. Digital currency companies seem to be increasingly drawn to the world of sports. Partnerships between exchanges and clubs are on the rise in almost every sport.
