Call of Duty: Warzone Vanguard Season 2 brings armor and movement buffs

Season 2 of Call of Duty: Vanguard’s battle royale mode promises a ton of exciting changes for PC and console players alike.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is now heading into its second competitive season, and that means a big shakeup. Infinity Ward has already announced a handful of more than 30 planned changes on its official website. The biggest standouts are planned buffs to movement and a few teasers for the next Call of Duty game, including that it will be part of the new Modern Warfare series.

Call of Duty: Warzone changes in Vanguard Season 2

The most interesting planned change in Vanguard Season 2 is aimed at the movement in Warzone. Infinity Ward will attempt to buff movement in several key ways. Most importantly, players will be able to mantle higher than ever before.

The exact height is not stated, but it should become easier to access several windows and rooftops. These movement buffs also extend to vehicles, which will get improved handling across the board in Vanguard Warzone Season 2. Parachutes will be able to be deployed lower than in Season 1, and collision between vehicles and players will be greatly improved.

Armor will also get a significant buff. Currently, refilling armor plates can cause the character to remove damaged armor before filling in destroyed armor slots. This can cause major problems in firefights by reducing effective health pools at random. Now the system will prioritize destroyed armor plates before removing damaged ones.

Lastly, Infinity Ward confirmed a few important bug fixes coming in Vanguard Warzone Season 2. Accessing the Buy Station will no longer freeze up gameplay, and the gas mask animation will no longer trap players aiming down sights. The invisibility issues caused by certain skins are also a top priority.

Lastly, performance will improve across the board due to graphical and rendering changes. While this will help the game run smoother, it’s not enough to implement one of the most requested settings on console.

Console FOV sliders deconfirmed for Call of Duty: Warzone

In addition to the exciting buffs, Infinity Ward confirmed that a commonly-requested console feature will not be implemented. Ever since the start of Warzone, console players have requested custom field-of-view settings. According to the blog post, implementing the option would have a drastic performance impact on older consoles.

Another main development goal is to have performance parity across consoles. If Infinity Ward implemented the feature but restricted it by console, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players would have a significant disadvantage in Vanguard Warzone Season 2.
