A League of Legends fan has created a mod for a new 3D brawling game that lets you play as Arcane’s version of Vi.
Sifu is a fighting game with a unique mechanic that focuses on the protagonist getting older each time they are foced to replay a level, changing their durability and damage output. To one League of Legends fan, it was the perfect fit for Piltover’s best hand-to-hand Enforcer, leading to their bringing Vi into the game with a mod.
Sifu mod brings Vi to the fight
Reddit user u/Rage2quit0 posted footage of a Sifu mod that brought this familiar face to Sifu’s gameplay to make for a surprisingly good mix of properties. In the footage, a model depicting Vi from Arcane post-prison escape with her signature red jacket replaces the usual Sifu character model. The showcase is complete with Sifu’s credit sequence set to the tune of Imagine Dragons’ Enemy. A quick transition brings in the gameplay, highlighting Vi fighting her way down a corridor in side-scrolling fashion, clearly referencing famous action movie Oldboy.
The game’s quick and snappy fighting style fits Vi almost perfectly, as her rapid movement and chained blows give a similar sense of momentum and power lent to her by Fortiche Productions in Arcane, the animated League of Legends adaptation. There’s no indication in the footage that the model has been equipped to take advantage of Sifu’s aging mechanic, but it’s an impressive combination nonetheless.
With Riot Games having its own fighting game in production with Project L, fans might get a Riot-made chance to brawl toe-to-toe with enemies without needing a Sifu mod. For the time being, this is one of the best ways to get behind the wheel of Arcane’s martial artist even if it is unofficial. It’s not surprising that Vi fits right into a game made as a love letter to martial arts movies and Hong Kong action cinema.
