Out of the myriad drills at the NFL Combine, the 40-yard dash is always the most notable.
It makes perfect sense: Football is a game of speed, and what better way to gauge a player’s speed than watching him run 40 yards in a too-small spandex outfit?
A few tenths of a second can be the difference between moving up a few rounds and not getting drafted. It’s a vicious game, but one we love to watch.
