Meteorite Staff gives new players an easy start to Elden Ring

The Meteorite Staff is a complete game changer for any intelligence-based caster in Elden Ring.

While it’s nice to be able to learn the ins and outs of a weapon and have it by your side for an entire playthrough, there’s something to be said for just exploding out of the gate. The Meteorite Staff gives players an incredible advantage at the start of the game. The weapon isn’t designed to hold up over time, but in the early portions of Elden Ring, the Meteorite Staff dominates.

Though it’s technically meant to be obtained in the middle stages of the game, players can get the weapon very early on. Here’s the fastest way to get the Meteorite Staff in Elden Ring.

Here’s the location of the Meteorite Staff in Elden Ring

The Meteorite Staff can be found in the far northeast of the map in the Caelid region.

This is a dangerous region, with deadly enemies as well as abundant environmental hazards. It’s not an area that’s not meant to be visited early on. The developers did offer players a backdoor to enter the area, however.

Players can be instantly transported to the northeast of the map immediately after exiting the Cave of Knowledge. The Dragon-Burnt Ruins can be found in the lake directly east of the First Step Site of Grace. An underground passageway can be found there which contains a treasure chest. Instead of a nice item, the player is hit with a gas trap and teleported away to the Selia Crystal Tunnel.

The enemies in this area will tear apart anyone that mostly relies on physical attacks, but casters won’t have an especially easy time either. The good news is that it’s not too hard to get out of the tunnel.

Players are dropped into a hut in Selia Crystal Tunnel, and only need to exit, turn left, drop down, and follow a passageway to find a Site of Grace. Rest up and then the exit to the tunnel is right there.

Unfortunately, this is out of the frying pan and into the fire. Follow the path to the south until there’s a massive poisonous swamp. In the southwestern portion of this swamp is a small, blown-out building filled with Giant Poison Flowers. Kill these flowers to find a few items, including the Meteorite Staff. Here’s a video walkthrough of the process.

Is the Meteorite Staff good?

The Meteorite Staff is the best early and mid-game staff that will be available to players in Elden Ring.

The trouble with the Meteorite Staff is that it cannot be upgraded in any way. The S-level scaling for intelligence will ultimately make this a very strong option for a long while. Once the player starts upgrading other staves past a certain point, it’s no longer the ideal option.

For Elden Ring players starting off as an Astrologer or Prisoner, it’s worth taking the time to get the Meteorite Staff. Though exploring Caelid isn’t recommended for low-level players, this staff is just too helpful to pass up.
