Apocalypse Manufacturing has made what they claim to be the first Ford Bronco 6×6 named the Dark Horse. You may recognize the company for its specialization in 6×6 conversions. They previously transformed a Jeep Gladiator 6×6 and a Ram 1500 TRX 6×6, also known as the Warlord. So, of course, it was only a matter of time before the company turned its sights on the Bronco, given its popularity and the popularity these conversions have.
Ford Bronco Dark Horse: Details
The Dark Horse started its life as a four-door Ford Bronco before receiving a five-foot pickup bed and an extra axle. According to Motor Authority, these changes stretched the Bronco’s overall length from 189 inches to 225 inches. Apocalypse also replaced the stock convertible roof with a removable fiberglass hardtop.
Remaining under the hood is the 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 which has received larger injectors and a modified exhaust system that increases power output from 330 horsepower to 400 ponies. Like with the other vehicles, all of that power goes to all six wheels by way of the Apocalypse patented middle tandem axle. The entire vehicle sits on a 4-inch suspension lift with 37-inch tires.
The interior has been redone with tan and black leather that the company calls a King Ranch pattern. The leather is marine grade and water-resistant, which is certainly handy for when and if an owner takes this giant Bronco off-roading or simply driving with the roof off.
Apocalypse Manufacturing plans to build more 6×6 Broncos, including converting some customer vehicles. Apocalypse owner Joseph Ghattas stated that some of those builds could incorporate a bigger 700-hp supercharged Coyote V8 or a Kevlar-coated paint job. First, however, the Dark Horse is bound to find its home at the Barrett-Jackson auction on April 9th in Palm Beach, Florida.
