Taylor Swift’s new song “Carolina” is featured in the first trailer for Where The Crawdads Sing, an upcoming thriller film based on the bestselling novel by Delia Owens.

The singer posted the film’s first trailer in an Instagram post and expressed her enthusiasm to be part of the project.

Where The Crawdads Sing is a book I got lost in when I read it years ago. As soon as I heard there was a film in the works starring the incredible (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and produced by the brilliant (Reese Witherspoon), I knew I wanted to be a part of it from the musical side,” the Grammy-winner continued. “I wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match this mesmerizing story.”

The book Where The Crawdads Sing was initially released as a best-selling novel in 2018. The story takes place in 1969 and is set in Barkley Cove, a small town on the coast of North Carolina. It follows a young woman named Kya Clark after being abandoned by her family as a child and raises herself in South Carolina’s marshes. Clark is known by her town as “marsh girl,” leaving her shunned and mistreated by those around her. She then later finds herself involved with two men from the town who see something special in Kya. But when one ends up dead, she becomes suspect number one.

Edgar-Jones will star in the film as Kya. The rest of the cast includes Taylor John Smith (Tate), Harris Dickenson (Chase), David Strathairn (Tom), Ahna O’Reilly (Ma), Garret Dillahunt (Pa), and JoJo Regina.

Where The Crawdads Sing is set to premiere on July 22.
