This electric conversion kit for bikes is easy to install and weather-resistant

An Indian inventor may have found a miracle solution for bringing electric power to bicycles at a lower cost. In any case, his creation has caught the attention of one of the country's most powerful businessmen. In India, more than 800 million people use their bicycles every day.

Gursaurabh Singh could be set to hit the jackpot! He is the creator of the DVECK, a clever conversion kit that makes it very easy to bring electric power to any bicycle. His invention takes the form of a large module designed to be fixed just above the bike's pedals, requiring absolutely no technical knowledge or skill.

This kit offers a maximum speed of 25 km/h, for a payload of 170 kilograms and a range of about 40 kilometers. Plus, simply pedaling for 20 minutes can recharge the battery to 50%. The ease of installation, but also the unit's ability to withstand bad weather, mud, extreme heat and even fire make it perfectly suited to the Indian market and all other emerging countries. The icing on the cake is that this system can even be used as a cell phone charger.

Gursaurabh Singh has recently received the support of Anand Mahindra, the chairman of the powerful Indian conglomerate that bears his name. While no deal is yet signed, such a partnership could help secure the mass production and distribution of this invention. Indeed, more than half of the population of India -- some 800 million people -- currently travel mainly by bicycle each day.
