Japan will raise its daily limit on entrants from overseas to around 10,000 from April 10, up from the current 7,000, the top government spokesman said Friday.

The easing of the nation's strict border controls is in response to the growing needs for entry among returning Japanese nationals and foreign travelers, including students who wish to stay in Japan, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said.
